When someone has limitations due to age, declining health, or a disability, a nutritious meal becomes more than something to eat. It’s crucial to their overall well-being.
Meals on Wheels of Muncie, Inc. is here to help.
We take the stress of planning and preparing meals off the weary shoulders of those who have physical limitations. Working closely with the kitchen staff at I.U. Health, we ensure our clients receive well-balanced meals that are hot and ready to eat.
Meals on Wheels of Muncie’s roots go back to 1971 when a group of local women gathered at a church to make and deliver meals for some of their fellow parishioners who were ill or recovering from surgery. What started out as just a few people a week eventually led to more. Through continued growth, Meals on Wheels of Muncie now delivers 80-90 meals daily. This program is made possible, in part, by United Way of Delaware County.
IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital provides Muncie Meals on Wheels, Inc. with office space. We also contract with the hospital’s kitchen to prepare the meals our clients receive.
Alpha Center an adult day care program designed for people suffering from dementia, is one of our daily meal delivery locations.
Muncie Mission partners with us to deliver meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas and other days we are closed to ensure our clients receive meals on any weekday.
